SALAFISM IN CATALONIA: A NEW BELGIUM IN SOUTHERN EUROPE?

We still do not realize that Belgium is a country of immigration like all Europe is becoming.

"We still do not realize that Belgium is a country of immigration", these were the incredible words of Bernard Clerfayt[i], mayor of the Schaerbeek district of Brussels, where the suicide bombers of the Zateven Airport resided, and from where they took a taxi full of explosives to commit their criminal act.

For thirty years, the Belgian political class had created enormous Islamist ghettos in the heart of Europe. Now we are all paying the consequences. The argument was and still is, to create a "multicultural" Belgium: "We are an open society”, "Belgium is for all", "we are a country and immigration”; The same Clerfayt said with righteous criticism: "we still see ourselves as the Gauls of 2,000 years ago, all white ". Clarfayt and the Belgian political class have been responsible for the Belgian landscape being filled with turbans, ISIS flags, burkas, Salafist radical clerics, and mosques.

The same arguments that have been used over the past fifteen years are now being used again by the Catalan government and the Catalan political class, to open the door to massive immigration and to make Catalonia the most Islamised area, with the biggest jihadist presence within the Spanish State, and one of the most important jihadist recruitment centers in Southern Europe. Even Carod Rovira, when he was the vice-president of the Catalan Generalitat, dared to speak of a "Catalan Islam"[ii].

A neighborhood in the center of Barcelona –El Raval- which is comparable to Molenbeekin in Brussels - and eighty Salafist mosques identified as such by the Mosses d'Esquadra (Catalan police), are some of the data confirming that the same political errors are causing the same results, and that dramatic consequences may strike Catalonia one day. Meanwhile, the counselor of internal affairs of Catalonia, Jordi Jané, said last November 10 that: "We must not stigmatize Salafism."

This already done reality has raised alarms across Europe, and particularly in neighboring France, which is not willing to tolerate another Belgium now in its southern border, and even less to recognize the independence of Catalonia although it has been proven able to control the growing Islamist expansion in its territory[iii].

The Belgian authorities, unable to prevent an attack organized by elements “identified” as radical Salafists, and unable to prevent any of their movements - even as they walked around full with explosives and took a taxi- were very "decided" when banning a protest against Islamization organized as a result of the attacks[iv] .

In this also, Catalonia imitates Belgium, preventing freedom of expression to whom they call "extremists," while being unable to control and prosecute those who are a danger to our society. It is obvious that in Europe the parties who oppose these suicidal policies will increase. A good example is a rise of AfD (Alternative for Germany) in Germany, as their last proposal is simply the closure of all mosques in the country because "Islam has nothing to do with Germany"[v].
