DE FACTO PROTECTION OF ISLAMIC STATE

A Russian-operated airline went down in Sinai on October 31, all 224 on board have died. ISIL claimed responsibility, provoked by Russia's bombing campaign in Syria.

At the G20 summit Russia has presented examples of terrorism financing by individual businessmen from 40 countries, including from member states of the G20 held by the presidency of Turkey in Antalya.  That seemed to be a sign of tension that would rise between Turkey and Russia. On Tuesday, Turkish F-16 fighter jets have shot down a Russian warplane close to the Syrian border, accusing it of violating Turkish airspace, while the Russian Defense Ministry denied that the airspace violation took place and said that “Turkey’s actions are de facto protection of Islamic State,” and added that several Turkish officials have ‘direct financial interest’ in the oil trade with the terrorist group the Islamic State. On the other hand, Turkish officials said the jet, of “an unknown nationality,” was downed within the rules of engagement and the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey does not want an escalation with Russia over the downed plane, adding: "we are only defending out own security and the rights of our brothers."

BRODERHOOD

It is not a secret that Turkey supports the rebels fighting against the Syrian regime. The Turkish government was accused of sending the weapons to radical Islamist groups in Syria. In contrast Russia announced that all those fighting against the Syrian regime are considered as terrorists. Saying there are no ISIL members in the Turkmen region and Turkmens should not be exposed to a massacre under the guise of a fight against the ISIL, Turkey has called for a United Nations Security Council meeting over Turkmens in the civil war-torn country . Besides, the civilians have started a campaign at "change.org" to make people sign the petition "The Turk has no friend but the Turk." The campaigner wrote that only Turkey can save his brothers from the Russia's massacre.  Turkey was supposed to discuss that issue in meeting with  Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who has planned to visit Turkey on Nov. 25, but after  the Russian fighter jet was downed he has cancelled his visit to Turkey.

Russia announced it was planning to strengthen its military base in Syria by installing an air defense system in Syria and vowed to continue airstrikes near Turkey's border. Turkmen could not realize that the pilots who parachuted out from the plane could be the key for diplomacy, they killed one as soon as he was downed. The other pilot named Capt. Murakhtin was rescued in a 12-hour operation and said no warning was given and there was "no way" the jet could have violated Turkish airspace. Turkey shooting down the plane was a 'planned provocation,' said Russia  and Russian President Vladimir Putin considers the act as 'a stab in the back' and as direct assistance to terrorist forces in Syria.

HOW SHARP IS THE STAB AND FOR WHOM ?

Putin warned of "serious consequences" of the downed warplane. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov advised Russians not to visit Turkey, emphasizing the threat of terrorism there was no less than in Egypt. Turkey, where is visa-free travel made it one of the most popular country visited by Russians.  For many years, millions of Russian tourists have been the primary source of tourism revenues for Turkey. However Russian users shared tweets suggesting that Russian tourists boycott Turkey, according to Turkish Hoteliers Federation (TUROFED), in the last month of the year the Turkish tourism industry is likely to close the year with at least $10 billion in losses.

The high level of economic relations between Turkey and Russia is absolutely going to be disturbed . Russia was 7th biggest exporting country to Turkey and Russia is one of the biggest oil and gas suppliers of Turkey. Russia's Gazprom explained that they are going to keep on supplying gas according to the agreement however it is absolute that Turkish exports to Russia going to fall due to the boycott of Turkey and cancellation of agreements. Moreover there are  some several important energy projects. According to Putin, Russia is considering canceling several important projects with Turkey.

ZERO PROBLEMS WITH NEIGHBORS

No doubt that Turkey has a perfect geological location, it is simply like a bridge between Asia and Europe and connects the South and the North as well. Due to its location Turkey is able to be a perfect trade center, an energy hub, a cultural center as long as it has good relationships with its neighbors.  For the past years the principle of "zero problems towards neighbors" has been successfully implemented. There was a developing economic interdependence between Turkey and its neighboring countries. However for a few years Turkey made a mistake over a mistake with its foreign policy, not good relations with Iran but rather a big competition to become the leading country of Islamic world, never accepted to discuss the Armenian Genocide, Europe has been shown as a "western evil" especially during the election campaign, Erdoğan's old close friend the "new terrorist" Bashar's Syria is not a neighbor anymore as the Turkish border is owned by Syrian Kurds and ISIL... And the country nearby  Israel is the enemy forever, Sisi's Egypt  has never recognized, finally Putin Russia's has ‘stabbed in the back'. Unfortunately as it seems Turkey has inverted the policy of "zero problems with neighbors" to "zero neighbors without problems" which causes economic and political loses not only for Turkey but also for its neighboring countries. Turkey should immediately waive the policy of the sectarian and descendant sultanate unless the stabs turned back. By the way, do you think that Turkey and ISIL could be good at neighboring if the Assad regime and Kurdish Syria are downed?
